Transportation

If you need to ship your product or transport it a long distance, prepare it for transportation as described below.

Caution:
When storing or transporting the product, avoid tilting it, placing it vertically, or turning it upside down; otherwise ink may leak.

Leave the ink cartridges installed. Removing the cartridges can dry out the print head and may prevent the product from printing.

Do not carry the product by the control panel; this may damage the product.

Make sure there is no CD/DVD on the CD/DVD tray before transporting this product.

When storing this product in a box, place it so that the control panel does not get damaged.

1.	Turn off the product.

2.	Unplug all the connected cables.

3.	Remove all the paper from the cassette, reinsert the cassette, and close the front cover.

4.	Close the output tray.

5.	Press and hold the  Unlock button to lower the control panel.

6.	Lift up the scanner and check that the print head is all the way to the right (the home position). If necessary, turn on the product, then turn it off again. Leave the ink cartridges installed.

7.	Remove the transportation lock from its storage location, then place it in its original position.

8.	Tape the transportation lock in place.

9.	Close the scanner.

10.	Pack the product in its original box or one of a similar size using protective material to keep it from moving inside the box. Make sure you place it in the box so the control panel does not get damaged.

11.	Keep the product level during transportation to prevent damage.

12.	After unpacking the product, remove the tape and place the transportation lock in its storage location.

If print quality has declined when you print again in a new location, clean and align the print head.
