Paper Does Not Feed Correctly

•	If paper doesn’t feed, remove it from the tray. Reload it against the right side, then adjust the edge guides. Make sure the paper is not above the edge guides inside the paper cassette.

•	If multiple pages feed at once, remove the paper from the tray, fan the edges to separate the sheets, then reload it.

•	Load only up to the recommended number of sheets. If you’re printing on both sides of the paper, try loading fewer sheets.

•	Use new, smooth, high-quality paper, that is not curled, creased, old, or too thin. Make sure to load it printable side down.

•	Do not load paper with holes punched in it for insertion in a binder.

•	Make sure you adjust the edge guide to match the length of the paper.

Paper Does Not Eject or Ejects Wrinkled

•	If the paper doesn’t eject fully, press  Start to eject the paper. Make sure you select the correct paper size when you reprint.

•	If it’s wrinkled when it ejects, the paper may be damp or too thin. Load new paper.

Paper Jams Inside the Artisan 800 Series

1.	Open the scanner.

2.	Remove the paper as shown, including any torn pieces.

3.	Squeeze the hooks and remove the gray cover inside the Artisan 800 Series.

4.	Remove the paper as shown, including any torn pieces.

5.	Reattach the gray cover.

6.	Close the scanner.

Paper Jams in the Cassette

1.	Close the output tray.

2.	Pull out the paper cassette.

3.	Remove the jammed paper.

4.	Align the edges of the paper.

5.	Carefully remove any paper jammed inside.

Paper Jams in Other Parts of the Artisan 800 Series

1.	Press the tab and remove the back cover.

2.	Remove the jammed paper.

3.	Replace the back cover.

4.	If paper is still jammed, turn the Artisan 800 Series off, unplug it, and disconnect any cables.

5.	Pull out the paper cassette.

6.	Carefully stand the Artisan 800 Series on its left side.

7.	Carefully remove the jammed paper.

8.	Place the Artisan 800 Series back on its base.

9.	Replace the paper cassette.

10.	Plug in the power cord.

Paper Jams in the Automatic Document Feeder

If you’re loading legal-size paper, insert only 10 sheets at a time to prevent paper feeding problems.

If paper jams inside the ADF, clear the jam and reload the paper as follows:

1.	Open the ADF cover and remove any jammed paper.

Caution:
Do not try to remove the paper without opening the ADF cover first, or you could damage the mechanism. (The ADF cover is closed in both illustrations below.)

2.	Open the ADF.

3.	Remove the jammed paper.

4.	Close the ADF cover.

5.	Press OK to clear any messages on the display screen.

6.	Reload the paper. Make sure the corners of the paper are not bent, folded, or curled up.

Paper Jams in the Optional Auto Duplexer

1.	Remove the auto duplexer.

2.	If you can see the jammed paper, carefully pull it out.

3.	If the paper is in the duplexer itself, open it and pull the paper out.

4.	Reattach the auto duplexer.
