If your printer is connected directly to your computer with a USB cable, make sure the USB cable is connected securely at both ends and meets the requirements.
Run a printer check. If the test page prints, make sure your software is installed correctly.

Click Start, select Control Panel, then select Printers and Faxes (or Printers and Other Hardware and then Printers and Faxes).

Click the Speed & Progress button, then click the Monitoring Preferences button.

Click the Shortcut Icon box. Then click OK to close the open windows.

If you installed the printer on a wireless network, use a computer and a router or wireless access point with 802.11g or 802.11n. Try moving the printer and your wireless router or access point closer together. Also avoid placing the printer next to large metal objects (such as a filing cabinet), microwave ovens, or 2.4 GHz cordless phones.
For the fastest printing, try these tips:
Choose Black/Grayscale in your printer settings if your document doesn’t include color.
For Windows, choose Draft for the Quality Option.
Make sure Quiet Mode is not selected.
