Printer Driver Settings

Changing the Resolution setting
Settings After an Ink Change

You can make the following printer-specific driver settings in your printer's Properties dialog box.

Note:
The setting items that appear in the printer's Properties dialog box vary according to the printer. Some of the following functions may not appear on your screen, depending on the selected printer.

Media Type

Specify the type of paper that you are using for printing and the print quality.

Resolution

Set the print resolution. Note that not all resolution settings can be selected, depending on the Media Type setting.

Ink

Specify whether to print in color or grayscale.

High Speed

Specify whether to use bi-directional printing. When bi-directional printing is turned on, the printing speed increases.

CMYK Simulation

Specify the ink colors to be simulated when printing CMYK color data.

RGB Simulation

Specify the color space of RGB colors to be simulated when printing RGB color data.

Grayscale Control

Specify the type of data to be printed using only black ink when you are printing the gray part of color data.

Rendering Intent

Set the priorities for deciding which properties of a color specification to preserve and which to sacrifice. This function enables better color rendering within the practical limitations of the color reproduction capabilities of the printer.

The available options and their typical uses are as follows:
Perceptual: Scanned images
Relative colormetric: Vector graphics
Saturation: Business graphics
Absolute colormetric: Logos and solid colors that require exact reproduction across different media

Auto Rotate

Specify whether the print direction is automatically rotated depending on the width of the rolled paper set under the Paper Source setting. Turning this setting on helps to economize on the use of paper. Select the option with appropriate width value to turn this setting on.

Auto Cut

Specify whether roll paper is automatically cut after the document is printed. This setting is effective only if the optional Auto Cutter is installed.

Note:
(For EPSON Stylus Pro 4000 users)
You can choose from two options for automatic cutting: 1 cut and 2 cut.

Print Page Line

Specify whether to print page lines on the right side and bottom end of the document so that you can use them as guidelines when cutting the document manually.

Super MicroWeave

Specify whether to turn the Super MicroWeave feature on for superior print quality.

Paper Source

Select the desired paper feed method.

Borderless

Specify whether to exclude printing a four-corner margin for single form paper, and left and right margins for rolled paper. To specify this setting, it is necessary to set a custom paper size.

Note:
  • Certain types of paper cannot be used for printing without margins. Check the manual supplied with the paper for information on the types of paper that can be used.
  • Check the printer manual for information on paper sizes that can be used for printing without margins.

Changing the Resolution setting

If your computer is running Windows Me/98 Second Edition and you are trying to specify Media Type and/or Resolution settings, be sure to read the following information on how to achieve the setting that you are trying to make.

If a symbol appears beside the Media Type setting that you want to select in the Change setting for drop-down list on the Device Options sheet of the printer's Properties dialog box, follow these steps to specify the desired setting:

Select the desired media type in the Change settings for drop-down list.

Click the Graphics tab.
