Replacing the Media Edge Plates

If the media edge plates that came with your product become damaged or deformed, you need to replace them.
Caution:
Continued use of damaged or deformed media holding plates may damage the print heads.
  1. Remove any media loaded in the product.
  2. Turn off the product, wait for the LCD screen to turn off, and unplug both power cables. If the optional drying system is installed, unplug the power cable for it also.
  3. Wait for one minute, then open the left maintenance cover and the front cover.

  4. Grasp the tabs on the media edge plates and slide them to the left edge of the platen.

    Caution:
Do not remove the media edge plates on the right edge of the platen or they could drop into the product and cause it to malfunction.
  5. Remove the left media edge plate, then remove the right media edge plate in the same manner.

  6. Align the white line on a new media edge plate with the edge of the platen.

  7. While pressing the tip of the media edge plate against the platen, attach the hooks to the front corner of the platen.

  8. Confirm that the three hooked sections of the media edge plate are securely attached as shown here, with no gap between the plate and the platen.
    • The latch at the top (1) should hook onto the corner of the platen.
    • The latch at the rear of the square hole (2) should rest in the groove on the platen.
    • The latch at the rear of the tab (3) should hook onto the front corner of the platen.

    Caution:
If the media edge plates are not attached correctly, repeat these steps to reattach them or the print head may be damaged.
  9. Repeat the previous steps to align and attach the other media edge plate, confirming that it is attached correctly.
  10. Grasp the tabs on the media edge plates and slide them to the left and right edges of the platen. Release the tabs when they are in position.

  11. Close the left maintenance cover and the front cover.
  12. Plug in the power cords and turn the product back on.
