You can load
paper up to this size in the paper cassette: Legal
(8.5 × 14 inches [216 × 356 mm]).
Note: Before
loading paper, make sure your product is not currently printing,
scanning, or copying.
Open the front cover and pull out the
paper cassette until it stops.
Note: The paper
cassette cannot be removed.
Squeeze
the tab on the right edge guide and slide the edge guides all the
way out.
Do one
of the following:
Slide in the
paper with the printable side down until it touches the back of the
paper cassette.
Note: Make sure
the paper is loaded against the rear of the cassette.
For legal-size paper, fully extend the paper guide extension as
shown. Align the front edge of the paper with the line on the
guide.
For 8.5 × 13 inches
(216 × 330 mm) paper, extend the paper guide
extension to the mark as shown. Align the front edge of the paper
with the line on the guide.
For
envelopes, insert up to 10 envelopes with the printable side down
and flap edge left, as shown. Slide the envelopes in until they
touch the back of the paper cassette.
Slide
the edge guides against the paper or envelopes, but not too
tightly.
Note: Make sure
the paper fits under the arrow mark on side edge guide.
Slide
the cassette back into the product until it stops.
Caution:
Do not push the paper in further after
inserting the cassette; it may cause a paper feed problem. Make
sure the paper is aligned with the line for the loaded paper size.
If the
paper size and type displayed on the LCD screen matches the paper
you loaded, select Confirm and press
the OK button. If the
settings do not match the paper you loaded, select Change and press the OK button to select different settings.
If your paper size is not displayed, select User-Defined.
Extend the output tray and raise the
paper stopper.
Note: Do not
remove or insert the paper cassette during printing.
Always follow these paper loading guidelines:
Load only the
recommended number of sheets.
Load paper short
edge first and printable side facedown.
Make sure the
paper fits under the arrow mark on the side of the edge guide.
If paper jams when you print on both sides of the paper, try
loading fewer sheets.
Do not load an envelope that is curled, folded, or too
thin.
Do not load windowed envelopes or envelopes with adhesive
surfaces on the flaps.
If you have
trouble loading a stack of envelopes, press each envelope flat
before loading it or load one envelope at a time.
If print quality
declines when printing multiple envelopes, try loading one envelope
at a time.
Load letterhead
or pre-printed paper top edge first.
Check the paper
package for any additional loading instructions.
