Paper Setting Menu

Select Paper Setting to customize paper options.

Roll Paper menu

Setting Options Description
Remove — Rewinds the loaded roll paper until it is ejected from the paper feeder
Feed/Cut Paper Backward

Forward

Cut

Moves the paper backward or forward, or cuts it using the built-in cutter
Media Adjust Easy Adjustment Select Start to automatically run the paper feed adjustment and print head alignment
Paper Feed Adjust Select Auto to automatically adjust the paper feed

Select Manual if an error appears during automatic adjustment or if you are not satisfied with the results of the automatic adjustment

Select Print length adjustment to precisely adjust the paper feed amount
Note: You will need a ruler to perform print length adjustment.
Print Head Alignment Select Auto to automatically align the print head

Select Manual if an error appears during automatic alignment or if you are not satisfied with the results of the automatic alignment
Advanced Media Setting Various options See the Advanced Media Setting table below
Manage Remaining Amount Setup Select On to display and record the amount of remaining roll paper
Remaining Amount Enter the total length of paper currently on the roll (16.4 to 492 feet [5 to 150 m])
Remaining Alert Select the amount of remaining roll paper before a warning is displayed (3.3 to 49.2 feet [1 to 15 m])
Change Paper Type Paper Type Select Plain Paper, Coated Paper (Generic), or Premium Glossy Sheet. Select Others to choose another paper type.
Paper Type Select the width of the loaded paper, or User-Defined if the width is not listed

Advanced Media Setting menu (in the Roll Paper menu)

 Adjusts the distance between the print head and the paper; displayed when Custom Paper is selected as the Paper Type setting
Top/Bottom Margins Standard

Top 3 mm/Bottom 3 mm

Top 15 mm/Bottom 15 mm

Top 35 mm/Bottom 15 mm

The Standard margins are as follows for the top and bottom:
  • CAD/line drawings: 3 mm
  • Other: 30 mm

Select a different value as necessary.

Note: Left and right margins are always 3 mm.
Paper Suction -4 to +3 Select this to adjust the distance between the paper and the print head. Choose lower values for thinner papers.
Back Tension Auto

Standard

High

Extra High

Select High or Extra High if paper wrinkles during printing
Note: If the paper still wrinkles when you select High, select Extra High and then change the level of suction by adjusting the Settings > General Settings > Printer Settings > Paper Source Settings > Roll Paper Setup > Back Tension 2 setting.
Drying Time Drying Time per Pass Select from 0 to 10 seconds for the amount of time the print head pauses to allow drying after each pass
Drying Time per Page Select from 0 to 60 minutes for the amount of time the printer pauses to allow drying after each page is printed
Paper Size Check On

Off

Select On to detect the paper width when paper is loaded.

Select Off if a paper setting error occurs when paper is correctly loaded.

Note: If this setting is set to Off, the printer may print beyond the edges of the paper, causing ink to get on the printer.

Cut Sheet (1 sheet) menu

Setting Options Description
Remove — Ejects the loaded cut sheet
