Printer Settings Menu

Select > General Settings > Printer Settings to customize paper and printing options.

Auto Cleaning On Select the option to automatically perform a print head check and cleaning when the printer turns on and before printing

Select Standard to set a normal automatic cleaning

Select Custom to set the timing and frequency of automatic cleaning from the following options:
  • Nozzle Check Schedule: Sets whether to perform a nozzle check during printing or only after printing has finished
  • Nozzle Check Sensitivity: Adjusts the number of clogged nozzles that trigger a cleaning cycle
  • Nozzle Check Result Notice: Sets whether the printer reports if there are still clogged nozzles after automatic cleaning
Off Disables the print head checking and automatic cleaning
Printing Language* USB

Network

Select the printing language to use for each connection mode

Auto: select for most printing situations

HP-GL/2: select if HP-GL/2 or HP RTL print data sent from a CAD application does not automatically switch the printing mode

PS: select if PS print data does not automatically switch the printing mode (available only on models with Adobe Embedded Print Engine)

Reduce Edge Blurriness On

Select On to widen the platen gap to prevent scuffing if you are printing on thick paper
Bidirectional On

Select On if you want the print head to move left and right during printing

Select Off to decrease misalignment of ruled lines, but slow down printing

Print Nozzle Check Pattern During Print Every Page

Paper Source Settings

Roll Paper Setup Auto Loading Automatically feeds roll paper into the printer
Roll 1 Function

Select Take-up to use Roll 1 for take-up, otherwise select Advance
Roll Switching

Select Auto to automatically switch to the appropriate roll paper for a print job

You can select settings for switching according to Paper Type, Paper Width, or Paper Length

Select Roll 1 or Roll 2 when printing to prevent automatically switching the roll paper

Print Job Priority

(not available on SureColor P6570E/T3770E)

Displayed when the SSD unit is installed

When Same Roll is selected, priority is given to print jobs that are suitable for the roll paper being fed.

When Queued Order is selected, jobs are printed in the order in which they are received. Switch the roll paper according to the job you are printing.

Auto Cut Automatically cuts the roll paper after printing
Print Cutting Guideline Select On to print cut lines on roll paper (if Auto Cut is turned off)
Wait for Cut Between Pages Select On to pause before cutting pages after printing
Cut for Borderless Print Select Two Cuts to insert a margin and cut twice between pages, or One Cut to cut once between pages
Quick Cut Select On to cut once between pages while the next page is still printing
Cut Mode Select Quiet to reduce the speed and noise when cutting paper
Margin Refresh Select On to automatically remove ink stains from a previous borderless print by trimming the leading edge of the paper
Roll End Option Selects the action when roll paper runs out and you load more paper

Continue: Prints the remaining data

Stop Printing: Does not print the remaining data

Reprint: Restarts the print job from the beginning; available only if the SSD unit is installed

Take-up After Cut

(not available on SureColor P6570E/T3770E)

Select On to store the print on the Auto Take-up Reel (if installed) after cutting it off the roll

Custom Paper Setting

You can select individual paper settings for each registered custom paper setting (in the 01 to 30 list).
Note: You cannot change individual paper settings for custom paper settings registered through the driver or other software.

Change Name Use the on-screen keyboard to enter a name for the custom paper setting (this name is displayed in the Paper Type list)
Change Reference Paper Various options Select the media type for the paper closest to the one you are using

Confirm ICC Profile

(available only on models with Adobe Embedded Print Engine)

Displays the ICC profile name when using paper with custom paper settings
Confirm Color Density

(available only on models with Adobe Embedded Print Engine)

Displays the color density when using paper with custom paper settings (the ink density cannot be changed)

Note: If this setting is set to Off, the printer may print beyond the edges of the paper, causing ink to get on the printer.
Auto Cut Follow Paper Source Settings

Select Follow Paper Source Settings to automatically cut roll paper after each page is printed depending on the paper source settings

Select Never Cut to cut paper manually

Page Margins option Clip By Margins Adds the page margin value inside the hard clip area of the PS command of the data, or the size selected for the Base Output Size. Any print object in the margin area is clipped and not printed.
Oversize Adds the page margin value outside the hard clip area of the PS command of the data (when Auto is selected), or outside the size selected for the Base Output Size (when set to a standard size).

Set to Off to darken shadows when converting from a wide color space to a narrow color space

Optimize Edge Quality On

Set to On to improve image quality at the edges of your print. Reduces print speed and increases the margin on the leading edge by 1.4 inches (35 mm).
PDF Rendering Level Levels 1 to 3 Normally, this is set to 3. Creates a PS that reproduces the PDF as closely as possible, but may not be printable. If this occurs, try lowering the rendering level to correct PDF printing errors (typical level is 3).
PDF Overprint Simulation On

Set to On to print the image using transparent colors when printing with overprint settings
Clear All Settings Restores the PS Settings to their default values
