If you see
ink on the back of a printout, you can clean the paper guide
rollers to remove any excess ink.
If printouts are smeared or scuffed, load a few sheets of
plain paper in this size: Letter
(8.5 × 11 inches [216 × 279 mm]) or
A4 (8.3 × 11.7 inches
[210 × 297 mm]).
Make sure there are no
errors on the LCD screen.
Press the home button, if
necessary.
Select Maintenance >
Paper Guide Cleaning.
Press the start button to start
cleaning the paper guide.
Repeat these steps as necessary until the paper comes out
clean.
If the paper is still
smeared with ink, turn off the product and open the scanner
unit.
Caution:
Do not touch the flat white cable or
translucent film inside the product. Be careful not to trap your
hand or fingers when opening or closing the scanner unit.
Using a cotton swab, wipe
off any ink smears on the part shown in the illustration
below.
Caution:
Do not use tissue paper to clean the
inside of the product as lint can clog the print head
nozzles.
Lift the scanner unit up
slightly and lower it. When the scanner unit catches, lift it up
again and lower it completely.
Note: The
scanner unit cannot be opened unless it has been completely
closed.
