If you see
ink on the back of a printout, you can clean the paper guide
rollers to remove any excess ink.
- If printouts are smeared or scuffed, load a few sheets of plain paper in this size: Letter (8.5 × 11 inches [216 × 279 mm]) or A4 (8.3 × 11.7 inches [210 × 297 mm]).
- Make sure there are no errors on the LCD screen.
- Press the
home button, if
necessary.
- Select Maintenance > Paper Guide Cleaning.
- Press the
start button to start
cleaning the paper guide. - Repeat these steps as necessary until the paper comes out clean.
- If the paper is still
smeared with ink, turn off the product and open the scanner
unit.
Caution:Do not touch the flat white cable or translucent film inside the product. Be careful not to trap your hand or fingers when opening or closing the scanner unit.
- Using a cotton swab, wipe
off any ink smears on the part shown in the illustration
below.
Caution:Do not use tissue paper to clean the inside of the product as lint can clog the print head nozzles.
- Lift the scanner unit up
slightly and lower it. When the scanner unit catches, lift it up
again and lower it completely.
Note: The scanner unit cannot be opened unless it has been completely closed.
