Replacing the Head Cleaning Set

Replace the head cleaning set when you see a message on the LCD screen to do so.

Note: The printer warns you when the head cleaning set is running low. The printer warning system may not function properly if you do not follow the correct procedure for replacing the head cleaning set. If you replace the head cleaning set before it is at the end of its service life, make sure to initiate replacement from the printer's menu (Menu > Maintenance > Replace Maintenance Parts > Head Cleaning Set).

Turn on the printer, if necessary.
Do one of the following:
- If the message appears on the LCD screen telling you the head cleaning set is at the end of its service life, select OK.
- If you want to replace the head cleaning set before the message appears, select Menu > Maintenance > Replace Maintenance Parts > Head Cleaning Set.
A confirmation message appears.
Select Start.
Caution:

Do not move the print head or the platen manually. A malfunction may occur.
The platen moves to the maintenance position.
Select How To... to view the steps and follow the on-screen instructions.
Note: A buzzer sounds 10 minutes after the platen and print head move to the maintenance position. Select OK to continue cleaning. The buzzer sounds again after 10 minutes. Nozzles can be clogged if more time passes, so finish cleaning as soon as possible.
Replace all of the parts of the head cleaning set in the following order:
- Wiper unit
- Capping station
- Flushing pad
Caution:

Lift the flushing pad carefully as ink could fly out if it is raised with too much force. After replacing the flushing pad, make sure that it is installed correctly. If the hooks are raised when printing, the print head could be damaged.

Note: You cannot print if the parts are not replaced.
After you replace the wiper unit, the print head moves to the maintenance position.
