Cleaning the Print Head Using the
Product Control Panel
You can
clean the print head using the control panel on your product.
Make sure there are no
errors on the LCD screen and the CD/DVD tray is not inserted for
printing.
Load a few sheets of plain paper in Cassette
2.
Press the home button, if
necessary.
Select Maintenance. You see a screen like
this:
Select Print Head
Cleaning. You see a screen like this:
Select Start to clean
the print head. The power light flashes throughout
the cleaning cycle and stays on when the cleaning cycle is
finished. When the cleaning cycle is finished, you see a message on
the screen.
Caution:
Never turn off the product or open the
scanner unit during a cleaning cycle or you may not be able to
print.
Select Check.
Select Print to print a
nozzle check pattern and confirm that the print head is
clean.
Check the printed pattern
to see if there are gaps in the lines.
Print head is clean
Print head needs
cleaning
Print head needs Power
Cleaning
Do one of the
following:
If there are no gaps, select O.
If there are gaps or the pattern is faint,
select X and then select
Cleaning.
If all or most of the lines are missing,
select X and then select
Power Cleaning.
Follow the instructions on
the screen to clean the print head or run a power cleaning.
Caution:
Never turn off the product or open the
scanner unit during a cleaning cycle or you may not be able to
print.
If you don’t
see any improvement after cleaning the print head three times, turn
off the product and wait at least 12 hours. Then run a nozzle check
and try cleaning the print head again. If quality still does not
improve, run a Power Cleaning.
