Using the Auto Exposure Button

Click the Auto Exposure button in the Manual mode window to optimize the exposure for an image. This automatically adjusts the Gamma, Highlight, and Shadow settings.

Note:

If you want the Auto Exposure feature to work when you change settings, select Continuous Auto Exposure on the Color menu of the Configuration dialog box. The exposure will be set automatically whenever you click the Full Preview button, modify the size of the previewed image with the zoom feature, make a marquee, or change the size or location of a marquee. See Color menu for more information.

The Auto Exposure button is not available when Pixel Depth is set to Black & White and B/W Option is not set to Auto Area Segmentation in the Image Type dialog box.

The Auto Exposure feature is automatically activated when scanning from the Full Auto mode.
