If you installed the Artisan 710 Series on a wired network, make sure the Ethernet cable is securely connected at both ends.
If you installed the Artisan 710 Series on a wireless network, make sure that your computer and the Artisan 710 Series are connected to your wireless network.
Run a printer check. If the test page prints, make sure your software is installed correctly.
Printing Noise Occurs, Even Though Nothing Prints

The Artisan 710 Series is performing routine maintenance.
No Printer Icon Appears in Windows Taskbar
Try restarting your computer. If you still don’t see the  icon, follow these steps:

Windows 7:
Click and select Devices and Printers.
Windows Vista:
Click , select Control Panel, and click Printer under Hardware and Sound.
Windows XP:
Click Start, select Control Panel, then select Printers and Faxes (or Printers and Other Hardware and then Printers and Faxes).
Windows 2000:
Click Start, point to Settings, then select Printers.

Right-click Artisan 710 Series and select Printing Preferences or Properties.

Click the Maintenance tab.

Click the Speed & Progress button, then click the Monitoring Preferences button.

Click the Shortcut Icon box. Then click OK to close the open windows.
Slow Printing
Make sure your system meets the requirements. If you’re printing a high-resolution image, you need more than the minimum requirements listed. If you are printing over a wireless network, your signal strength may be low. You may also need to:
If you installed the Artisan 710 Series as a wireless printer, use a computer and a router or wireless access point with 802.11g. Try moving the Artisan 710 Series and your wireless router or access point closer together. Also avoid placing your Artisan 710 Series next to large metal objects (such as a filing cabinet), microwave ovens, or 2.4 GHz cordless phones.
For the fastest printing, try these tips:
Choose Black/Grayscale (Windows) or Grayscale (Macintosh) in your printer settings if your document doesn’t include color.
For Windows, choose Draft for the Quality Option.
Cannot Print Over a Network
If you installed the Artisan 710 Series on a wireless network, make sure that your computer and the Artisan 710 Series are both connected to the same network.
To view the Artisan 710 Series network connection status, press Home, select Setup, press OK, select Network Settings, press OK, then select Confirm Network Settings.
