Removing
the scanner cover for large documents
Installing
the reflective document mat
Before scanning a document, remember to respect the rights of copyright owners. Do not scan published text or images without first checking their copyright status.

Do not place heavy objects on the document
table glass and do not press on the glass with too much force. |
|

Most illustrations shown in this section are for the Perfection 2480 Photo, so they may be different in appearance from the Perfection 2580 Photo. The instructions are the same, except as noted.

Open the scanner cover. |

Note:
|
|
Place your document or photo on the document table, face down on the
glass. Make sure the top of the document is against the front edge of the
scanner in the center. |

| |
- Don't insert the document beneath the tabs
on the right edge of the document table glass.
|
|
| |
- When you're scanning multiple photos at
once, position each photo at least 20 mm apart from the others.
|
|
| |
- An area 5 mm from the horizontal and the
vertical sides of the scanner glass cannot be scanned. If you
place a document in the corner of the document table, move it
up and in slightly to avoid cropping.
|
|

Close the scanner cover gently so the document does not move. |

Note:

|
- Always keep the document table glass clean.
|
|

Do not leave photos on the document table for an extended period of time as they may stick to the glass.
|

Removing
the scanner cover for large documents
When you scan a thick or large document, you can remove
the scanner cover.
|
Note:
|
|
- When scanning without the scanner cover,
press down on your document gently to flatten it.
|
|
|
- Do not move the document or press it down
with too much force.
|
|
|
Make sure the scanner is turned off.
|
|
Disconnect the cover cable.
|
|
Open the scanner cover. |
|
Pull the scanner cover straight up and off the scanner. |
|
Note:
|
|
When you are finished scanning, replace the scanner
cover in the reverse order that you removed it. |

Installing
the reflective document mat
The reflective document mat must be installed to scan reflective
documents, such as photos or paper documents.
|
Open the scanner cover. |
|
Insert the reflective document mat in the top and bottom notches inside
the scanner cover. |
