Maintenance Menu Settings

Settings on the Maintenance menu let you run essential printer maintenance utilities.
Caution:
Follow the instructions in the topic links below the table to use these menu settings correctly.
Setting Options Description
Nozzle Check Select to run the nozzle check utility and inspect the printed pattern to determine if you need to clean the print head
Head Cleaning Selected Nozzles or All Nozzles

Execute (Light)

Execute (Medium)

Execute (Heavy)

Select to run the head cleaning utility on either selected nozzles indicated on the nozzle check print pattern (Selected Nozzles) or on all nozzles (All Nozzles)

Execute (Light): run this level of cleaning first

Execute (Medium): run this level of cleaning if the light level of cleaning left faint or missing ink in your printouts

Execute (Heavy): run this level of cleaning if the light and medium levels of cleaning still left faint or missing ink in your printouts

The first several cleanings are performed in the same way as for initial ink charging, regardless of the selected cleaning level.

The automatic cleaning start time displayed on the control panel screen may be reset, depending on the selected cleaning level.

Preventive Cleaning Select to delay the automatic cleaning cycle and reset the automatic cleaning start time displayed on the LCD screen (automatic cleaning is performed by the printer for a set time period to keep the print head in good condition)
Tube Washing (Standard) White Ink (White Edition)

Color Ink

Select to run the tube washing utility to remove accumulated sediment in the selected ink tube. For White Ink, a message is displayed when it is time to perform maintenance. For Color ink, wash the tubes if performing head cleaning several times does not clear the problem. Execute after preparing the selected ink cartridge and cleaning cartridge.
Tube Washing (Eco) White Ink

Color Ink

Select to use a tube cleaning kit to wash the tube daily. A message is displayed when it is time to perform maintenance.

Select to move the platen and print head to the maintenance position before replacing the head cleaning set
Head Cap Cleaning Yes

Select to move the platen and print head to the maintenance position before cleaning the caps
Cleaning Around Head Yes

Select to move the platen and print head to the maintenance position before cleaning around the head
Waste Ink Counter Select to reset the waste ink counter after replacing the waste ink bottle
Replace White Ink Yes

Select to switch the printer from white ink mode to color mode or vice-versa (White Edition)
Storage Mode Yes

No

Select if you have stored the printer for a long time (one month or more) so you can replace the cleaning fluid
