Paper Menu Settings

The Paper menu lets you modify settings for the current paper, or create and customize paper configurations for up to 10 different types of paper.

Setting Options Description
Select Paper Type Photo Paper Select the loaded Epson media.
Proofing Paper
Fine Art Paper
Matte Paper
Plain Paper
Others
Custom Paper Lists the custom paper configurations that you have created.
Custom Paper Setting Lets you create a custom configuration for the loaded media. See the next table.
Print Paper List Press the OK button to print a list of custom paper settings.
Roll Paper Remaining Remaining Setup Lets you track the length of roll paper remaining.
Set Length Sets the length of the loaded roll paper from 17 to 327 ft (5 to 99.5 m).
Set Alert Length Sets the length of roll paper remaining at which the printer will alert you, from 4 to 50 ft (1 to 15 m).
Roll Paper Setup Auto Cut Lets you automatically cut roll paper with the built-in cutter. Any auto cut options selected in the printer driver will override this setting.
Page Line If Auto Cut is set to Off, lets you print trim lines around images. Any trim line options selected in the printer driver will override this setting.
Roll Paper Margin Sets the top and bottom margins for printing.
Roll End Option Lets you select what the printer does if the roll paper runs out and is replaced during a print job.

Stop Printing: automatically cancels printing after paper is replaced.

Continue: resumes printing where the job left off.

Reprint: restarts the job from the beginning (available only when you are using the optional internal print server).

Roll Paper Tension Adjusts the paper tension.

Select High or Extra High if paper wrinkles during printing.

Refresh Margin Lets you automatically trim the leading edge and remove any ink stains left by the previous image during borderless printing.

Custom Paper Setting options

Options Description
Select Reference Paper Lets you select the type of paper that is closest to the paper for which you are creating a custom paper configuration:

Photo Paper

Matte Paper

Plain Paper

Others

No Paper Selected

Platen Gap Adjusts the gap between the media and the print head.

Standard: select for most media.

Narrow: select if head alignment does not completely align the print head.

Wide, Wider, or Widest: select if printouts are smeared.

Caution:
To avoid damaging the printer, do not select the Narrow setting when loading thick media.
Detect Paper Thickness Lets you print patterns that you can use to determine the thickness of the current paper by selecting the pattern number with the least misalignment when you create a custom paper configuration:



Paper Feed Adjust Lets you adjust the paper feed if you are unable to resolve banding issues even after head cleaning and alignment.

Pattern: prints an adjustment pattern that you can use to adjust the paper feed by selecting the lightest-colored pattern in each row:



Value: lets you choose an adjustment between –0.70 and +0.70%. Select a higher value to reduce dark bands or a lower value to reduce white bands.

Paper Suction Lets you adjust the suction from –4 to 0 to increase the gap between the print head and thin or soft paper. If print quality is reduced or media does not feed correctly, you may need to lower the suction.
Drying Time Per Pass Lets you adjust the amount of time the head pauses between each pass (from 0 seconds to 10 seconds). If the image is blurring on the paper, you may need to increase the drying time per pass.
Roll Paper Tension Lets you adjust the paper tension. Select High or Extra High if paper wrinkles during printing.
Remove Skew Lets you enable paper skew reduction.
Setting Name Lets you enter a name up to 22 characters for the custom paper settings.
Restore Settings Returns all settings for the selected custom paper to their default values.
