Using the Powerful Cleaning Utility

If print head nozzles are still clogged after cleaning the print head three times, run the Powerful Cleaning utility from the product control panel. This process consumes a lot of ink to clean the clogged nozzles.

Note: Make sure the ink tanks are at least a third full before running a Powerful Cleaning.

Make sure roll paper or cut sheet paper is loaded in the printer.
Press the home button, if necessary.
Select Settings > Maintenance > Powerful Cleaning. You see a screen like this:
Select Start to begin the cleaning cycle. When the cleaning cycle is finished, the power light stops flashing and a confirmation screen appears.
Caution:

Never open any covers or turn off the product during a cleaning cycle or you may damage it.
Select Yes > Start to print a nozzle check pattern. The nozzle pattern prints.
Check the printed pattern to see if there are gaps in the lines.

If nozzles are still clogged, turn off the printer and leave it off overnight. If nozzles are still clogged, you can flush the ink tubes.
