Before Moving or Transporting Your Product

Before you move your product short distances (such as between floors in the same building), prepare it as described here. If you are transporting your printer long distances, contact Epson for support.
Note: After moving the printer, make sure you return the transportation cap to the printing position as described in the next section. You cannot print when the cap is in the transportation position.
Caution: During transportation, follow these guidelines:
  • Avoid tilting the product, placing it vertically, or turning it upside down; otherwise ink may leak.
  • Attach the transportation cap and make sure the ink tank caps are closed, otherwise ink may leak.
Note: Before storing your product for a long period, replace low, expended, or expired ink to help prevent the print head from drying out. Store your product in a cool, dry place.
  1. Remove all the paper from the product.
  2. Open the ink tank cover.

  3. Open all of the ink tank caps.

  4. Remove the transportation cap.

  5. Flip the transportation cap so the round ends face down.

  6. Insert the round ends of the transportation cap as shown.

  7. Securely close the ink tank caps so they all lay flat.

  8. Close the ink tank cover.

  9. Turn off the product.
  10. Unplug the power cable.
  11. Disconnect any connected cables.
  12. Remove the output tray, if necessary.
  13. Close all covers on the product.
  14. If you are not using the optional stand, have at least two people lift the product using the handholds as shown.

Warning: The product is heavy and requires two or more people to move it.
  15. If you are using the optional stand, do the following:
    • Close the paper basket.
    • Release the caster locks.
    • Move the product on an even floor surface.
    • Lock the casters after the product has been moved.
    Caution:
Do not move the product with locked casters. Avoid areas with steps or uneven flooring.
  16. Place the product in its original packing materials, if possible, or use equivalent materials with cushioning around the product.
You can now move your product.
Note: After moving the printer, make sure you return the transportation cap to the printing position as described in the next section. You cannot print when the cap is in the transportation position.
