Discharging Ink

If you need to move or transport your product when the temperature is 14 °F (–10 °C) or lower, you must first discharge the ink to keep the print head in optimum condition.
Note: The maintenance box needs enough capacity to discharge the ink. If the remaining capacity is low, replace the maintenance box first.
  1. Turn on the printer.
  2. Remove all of the paper from the printer.
  3. Select > Maintenance > Keeping Preparation > Start. The ink begins to discharge. The printer turns off automatically when the discharge process is complete.
    Caution:
Do not open any covers or turn off the printer while ink is discharging.
Note: If a message is displayed indicating that you need a new XXX ink cartridge when you resume using the printer, prepare an ink cartridge or ink pack of the color displayed in the XXX section before the next time you use the printer. The next time you turn on the printer, ink will fill the print head nozzles making the printer ready to print; so if you do not have enough ink to fill the nozzles, the printer will not be ready to use until the ink is replaced.
