Replacing Ink Cartridges

Precautions on Ink Cartridge Replacement

Read all of the instructions in this section before replacing the ink cartridges.

• If you need to remove an ink cartridge temporarily, protect the cartridge’s ink supply port from dirt and dust. Store the ink cartridge in the same environment as the CX1500. When storing the cartridge, be sure that the label identifying the color of the ink cartridge is facing up. Do not store ink cartridges upside down.

• The valve in the ink supply port is designed to contain any excess ink that may be released. However, careful handling is recommended. Do not touch the ink cartridge's supply port or area surrounding it.

• When an ink cartridge is empty, you cannot continue copying even if the other cartridge still contains ink. Before copying, replace the empty cartridge.

• Ink is consumed in the following operations: print head cleaning, self-cleaning cycle performed when the CX1500 is turned on, and ink charging after an ink cartridge is installed.
