Read all of these instructions before starting to use the CX1500. Also be sure to follow all warnings and instructions on any labels on the CX1500.

When setting up this product

  • Do not block or cover the openings on the CX1500.

  • Use only the type of power source indicated on the label on the back of the CX1500.

  • Be sure your AC power cord meets the local safety standards.

  • Connect all equipment to properly grounded power outlets. Avoid using outlets on the same circuit as air control systems or other high- load office devices that regularly switch on and off.

  • Avoid electrical outlets controlled by wall switches or automatic timers.

  • Keep your computer and the CX1500 away from potential sources of electromagnetic interference, such as loudspeakers and the base units of cordless telephones.

  • Do not use a damaged or frayed power cord.

  • If you use an extension cord with the CX1500, make sure the total amperage of the devices plugged into the extension cord does not exceed the cord's ampere rating. Also, make sure the total ampere rating of all devices plugged into the wall outlet does not exceed the wall outlet's ampere rating.

  • Do not attempt to service the CX1500 yourself.

  • Unplug the CX1500 and contact qualified service personnel under the following conditions:

If the power cord or plug is damaged or liquid has gotten into the CX1500; if the CX1500 has been dropped or the cover damaged; if the CX1500 does not operate normally or exhibits a distinct change in performance.

  • When connecting the CX1500 to a computer, make sure the USB connector is oriented correctly. Trying to force a cable into a connector may damage both your computer and the CX1500.

When using this product

  • Turn off and unplug the CX1500 before cleaning. Clean with a damp cloth only. Do not use cleaning fluid or detergents.

  • Do not insert objects into the slots on the CX1500.

  • Take care not to spill liquid on the CX1500. If liquid gets into the CX1500, turn it off and contact a qualified Epson servicer.

  • Do not put your hand inside the CX1500 or touch the ink cartridges during operation.

  • Do not move the print head by hand; you may damage the CX1500.

  • Always use the Power button to turn off the CX1500. When this button is pressed, the Power light flashes and then goes out. Do not unplug the CX1500 or turn off the power to the outlet until the Power light goes out.

  • Before transporting the CX1500, make sure the print head is in the home (far right) position and the ink cartridges are in place.

  • Leave the ink cartridges installed, even when you transport the CX1500. Removing the cartridges can dry out the print head and may prevent the CX1500 from printing.

When handling the ink cartridges

  • Keep ink cartridges out of the reach of children. Do not allow children to drink the ink or handle the cartridges.

  • Shake each new ink cartridge four or five times before opening the package.

  • Do not shake the ink cartridge once you remove it from the package; this can cause leakage.

  • Be careful when you handle used ink cartridges, as there may be some ink remaining around the ink supply port. If ink gets on your skin, wash the area thoroughly with soap and water. If ink gets into your eyes, flush them immediately with water. If discomfort or vision problems remain after a thorough flushing, see a doctor immediately.

  • Do not remove or tear the blue label on the ink cartridge; this can cause leakage.

  • Install the ink cartridge immediately after you remove it from its package. Leaving the cartridge unpacked for a long time before use may result in reduced print quality.

  • Do not use an ink cartridge beyond the date printed on the cartridge box. For best results, use ink cartridges within six months of installing them.

  • Do not take ink cartridges apart or try to refill them. This could damage the print head.

  • If you are using an ink cartridge that has been stored in a cold place, allow it to warm up at room temperature for at least three hours before using it.

  • Store ink cartridges in a cool, dark place.

  • Every time a cartridge is installed, some ink is consumed because the CX1500 automatically performs a reliability check.

  • Do not touch the green IC chip on the side of the cartridge. This may affect normal operation and printing.

  • The IC chip on the ink cartridge holds information about the cartridge, such as the amount of ink remaining. This chip lets you remove and reinstall the cartridge. However, each time the cartridge is reinstalled, some ink is consumed because the CX1500 automatically performs a reliability check.

  • If you remove an ink cartridge for later use, protect the ink supply port from dirt and dust and store it in the same environment as the CX1500. A valve in the ink supply port makes covers or plugs unnecessary, but the ink may stain items that come in contact with the ink supply port. Do not touch the ink supply port or surrounding area.

  • Store each ink cartridge with its label facing upward. Do not store cartridges upside down.

When choosing a place for this product

  • Do not place the CX1500 where it will be subject to shocks or vibrations, on an unstable surface, or near a radiator or other heat source.

  • Place the CX1500 on a flat, stable surface that extends beyond its base in all directions. If you place the CX1500 by the wall, leave more than 10 cm between it and the wall. The CX1500 will not operate properly if it is tilted or at an angle.

  • Avoid places subject to rapid changes in temperature and humidity. Also keep the CX1500 away from direct sunlight, strong light, and heat sources.

  • Leave enough space in front of the CX1500 so that your prints can be easily ejected.

  • When storing or transporting the CX1500, don't tilt it, stand it on its side or turn it upside down. Otherwise ink may leak from the cartridges.

  • Leave enough room around the CX1500 to allow for sufficient ventilation.

  • Place the CX1500 near a wall outlet where the power cord can be easily unplugged.
