Customizing EpsonNet NDPS Gateway
Configuring IPX Printer Discovery
You can change the communications condition between a Printer Agent and printer by configuring the parameters described below.
- Type Load EPSONCON at the server console. The Console Options screen appears.

- Select IPX Printer Discovery from the menu, and press <Enter>. The IPX Printer Discovery screen appears.

- Press <Esc> to return to the previous menu.
The IPX Printer Discovery screen contains the following parameters:
- Sleep Time (Seconds):
The time interval that EPSONPAP has to look for printers.
- Discovery Distance:
The number of hops.
CAUTION: If you have dial-up routers in a NetWare environment, they may automatically dial up the next hop and you are likely to be charged for the line connection depending on the number of hops you set. To prevent this and to keep network traffic to a minimum, set hops carefully.
- Network Filters:
Specify the IPX network when you want to find the print server automatically in the specific IPX network. You can specify the IPX network if it is located more than 1 hop from the server.
You can use the '?' character but not the '*' character. The '?' character represents any hex number. For example, an IPX network filter "BBBB????" means any IPX network segment address from "BBBB0000" to "BBBBFFFF" inclusive. The '?' character can be at any position, so "A?B?C?D?" is possible.
