Maintenance Menu Settings

The Maintenance menu lets you run nozzle checks, cleaning cycles, and other maintenance operations. You can access the menu directly by pressing the  maintenance button.
Caution:
Follow the instructions in the topic links below the table to use these menu settings correctly.
Setting Options Description
Nozzle Check Print At Right Prints a nozzle check pattern in the specified location on the media.
Print At Center
Print At Left
Cleaning Cleaning (Light) Cleans the print head. Select the lightest cleaning level first. If nozzles are still clogged, select a heavier cleaning level.
Cleaning (Medium)
Cleaning (Heavy)
Head Maintenance Auto Head Maintenance Select Regular Cleaning if you see the message to perform head maintenance on the LCD screen. Select Auto Head Maintenance if the nozzles are still clogged.
Regular Cleaning
Replace Ink Bottle Select if you need to replace the waste ink bottle before a message appears telling you to replace it on the LCD screen.
Replace Parts Select if you need to replace parts before a message appears telling you to replace it on the LCD screen.
Other maintenance Ink Circulation

(SC-S80600L only)

The printer automatically circulates the White and Metallic Silver ink to help prevent sedimentation. However, when printing multiple copies of a large print job, you may notice a difference in color in your printouts if the ink is circulated in between copies. To avoid this problem, select Ink Circulation before printing.
Ink Refresh

(SC-S80600L only)

Select this option if your printouts have an uneven tint.
Head Washing Select this option if the nozzles are still clogged after performing all other print head cleaning options. Cleaning packs (not included) are required to use this feature.
Pre-Storage Maint. Select this option if you plan to turn off the printer and not use it for an extended period of time; click the link to the pre-storage maintenance section below for more information.
Change Color Mode

(SC-S80600L only)

Select 10 Color (WH) to use White ink, 10 Color (MS) to use Metallic Silver ink, or 9 Color if you plan on not using either White or Metallic Silver ink for an extended period of time; click the link to the change color mode section below for more information.
Grease Carriage Rod Lets you apply grease to the carriage rod; click the link to the carriage rod grease section below for more information.
