Switching Rolls According to Paper Type

If you frequently use different paper types for different purposes, such as printing drawings for review on plain paper and printing drawings for submission on colored paper, you can set the printer to automatically switch to the roll that has the same paper type as the print job.
Note: The appearance of the print window may differ slightly from those shown here, depending on the Windows or Mac version you are using.
  1. Load different types of paper with the same paper width into Roll 1 and Roll 2.
  2. Select > General Settings > Printer Settings > Paper Source Settings > Roll Paper Setup > Roll Switching > Auto > Paper Type from the printer’s control panel.
  3. Select Type Match.
Note: Select Disable to print even if the paper loaded in the printer and the paper type selected in the driver are different.
  4. Choose from the following:
    • Windows: Display the printer driver's Printer Settings screen, and then select Roll Auto as the Source setting.

Select the paper type you want to print on in Media Category > Paper Type.

    • Mac: Display the Print screen on your computer and make sure roll paper is selected as the Paper Size. Select Printer Options> Printer Settings, and then select Auto as the Paper Source setting.

Select the paper type you want to print on in Media Type.

  5. Select other settings as necessary, then print.
The printer will automatically switch to the roll that has the same paper type as the print job.
