Product Status Messages

You can often diagnose problems with your product by checking the messages on the LCD screen.

LCD screen message Condition/solution
Change paper settings

Paper setting in the printer driver is different from paper information registered in the printer. Change paper setting from the application or the driver.

For details, see your documentation.

To change paper information that was registered using Epson Media Installer, load the paper and then use the control panel.

You can also use Epson Media Installer to change paper information for paper that has not been loaded.

Depending on the version of Epson Media Installer you are using, you may not be able to change the paper information.

Replacing the auto cutter blade is recommended.

The cutter has worn out. Replace the cutter.
TCP/IP configuration failed

The combination of the IP address and the subnet mask is invalid. See your documentation for more details.

Enter the correct values for the IP address and the default gateway. Check with your network administrator if you do not know the correct values.
Communication between the network and the printer is unstable.

You may be able to resolve this by setting IEEE802.3az (Energy Efficient Ethernet) to "Off". See your documentation for more details.

Recovery Mode Started in recovery mode because firmware update failed. Follow the steps below to update the firmware again.
  1. Connect the computer and printer by USB (in recovery mode, updates over a network connection are not possible).
  2. Download the latest firmware from the Epson support site, and then start the update.

You may be able to resolve this by setting IEEE802.3az (Energy Efficient Ethernet) to "Off". See your documentation for more details.

When IEEE802.3az is set to "On", the network connection status may become unstable,and printing may not be possible depending on your network environment.

Set this to "Off" when printing is complete.

The storage is full.

A part used in the printer is nearing the end of its service life.

Contact your dealer or Epson Support and tell them the maintenance request code.

This cannot be cleared until the part is replaced. A printer error occurs if you continue to use the printer.

Printer error. Turn the power off and on again. If the problem persists, contact Epson Support.

XXXXXXXX

(Where XXXXXXXX is a 6-digit or 8-digit alphanumeric code.)

An error message is displayed in the following situations.
  • The power cable is not connected securely
  • An error that cannot be cleared occurs

When a printer error occurs, the printer automatically stops printing. Turn off the printer, disconnect the power cable from the outlet and from the AC inlet on the printer, and then reconnect. Repeat this several times if the error continues to occur.

If the same error message is displayed on the LCD screen, contact Epson for support and provide them with the displayed service code.

The printer cannot communicate with the bulk ink solution.

Turn the power off, connect the cables correctly, and then restart the printer.

XXXXXXXX

Printer error is displayed in the following cases.
  • The cable is not connected securely
  • This message is displayed when a connection fails, such as with a USB device. Turn off the printer and connect the USB or other devices correctly.
  • When the ink tube connector on the bulk ink delivery system is not inserted correctly
  • An error that cannot be cleared occurs
When a printer error occurs, the printer automatically stops printing. Turn off the printer, disconnect the power cable from the outlet and from the AC inlet on the printer, and then reconnect. Turn the printer on and off several times.
The cover is open.

Close the rear cover, and then turn the power on again.

This message is displayed when the cover of the bulk ink delivery system is not attached or is installed incorrectly.

Turn off the printer and attach the cover of the bulk ink delivery system correctly.
