Make sure that your system meets the following requirements and check the compatibility.

For Windows PCs

Microsoft^® Windows^® XP Home Edition/XP Professional/Me/98/2000 Professional
(Pre-installed model or upgrade of Windows Me/98/2000 Professional pre-installed model)

Note:
This system operates only when the USB interface is used in full speed mode.

SVGA or higher resolution monitor 800 x 600 screen resolution or higher and 16bit (High Color)

For Windows and USB 2.0 users

Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition/XP Professional/2000 Professional
(Pre-installed model or upgrade of Windows 2000 Professional pre-installed model)

Note:
USB2.0 Host Driver by Microsoft is required.

For Macintosh computers

Note:

This software does not support the UNIX File System (UFS) for Mac OS X. Install the software on a disk or in a partition that does not use UFS.

This scanner does not support the Mac OS X Classic environment.

For Macintosh computers and USB 1.1 users

Mac OS^® 8.6 to 9.x, Mac OS X 10.2 or later

Note:
SilverFast^® works independently or only with Adobe^® Photoshop^® 7.0 or Adobe Photoshop Elements 2.0 on Mac OS X native mode.

Color monitor, 800 x 600 screen resolution (or higher recommended), and 32,000 colors (or higher)

For Macintosh computers and FireWire users

System

Mac OS^® 8.6 to 9.x, Mac OS X 10.2 or later

Note:
SilverFast works independently or only with Adobe Photoshop 7.0 or Adobe Photoshop Elements 2.0 on Mac OS X native mode.
FireWire Support 2.1 or later is needed to use FireWire I/F in Mac OS 8.6.

IEEE 1394a-2000 compatible

Display

Color monitor, 800 x 600 screen resolution (or higher recommended), and 32,000 colors (or higher)

Note:
Color and tone reproduction are subject to the display capability of your computer system, including the video card, display monitor, and software. See the product documentation for details.
Make sure FireWire 2.1 or later is installed on your computer system. Download FireWire's update file from the website of Apple Computer, Inc, and then install it on your computer.
