System Requirements and Compatibility

For Windows PCs
For Macintosh computers

Make sure that your system meets the following requirements and check the compatibility.

For Windows PCs

For Windows and USB 2.0 users

System

IBM compatible PC with Pentium® equivalent or higher processor with Microsoft Windows 2000/XP
(Pre-installed model or upgrade from Windows 2000 pre-installed model)

Note:
USB2.0 Host Driver by Microsoft is required.

Additional requirements

128MB RAM (256MB recommended)

Photo: 300MB of available hard disk space (800MB recommended)

Pro: 500MB of available hard disk space (800MB recommended)

CD-ROM drive (4x or faster)

Interface

USB port (TYPE A receptacle) on PC

Display

SVGA or higher resolution monitor 800 x 600 screen resolution or higher and 16 bit (High Color)

Note:
USB 2.0 is backwards compatible with USB 1.1.

For Windows and USB 1.1 users

(Pre-installed model or upgrade from Windows 98SE/Me /2000 pre-installed model)

Note:
This system operates only when the USB interface is used in full speed mode.

Note:
This software does not support the UNIX File System (UFS) for Mac OS X. Install the software on a disk or in a partition that does not use UFS.

For Macintosh computers and USB 2.0 users

G3, G4, G5, or iMac® with Mac OS® X 10.2.7 to 10.3.x

Note:
SilverFast® works independently or only with Adobe® Photoshop® 7.0 or Adobe Photoshop Elements 2.0 in Mac OS X native mode.

Make sure FireWire 2.1 or later is installed on your computer system. Download the FireWire update file from the Apple website, then install it on your computer.

Note for Mac OS X 10.3 users:
