Making Suitable Settings

For film
For documents and photos

This section explains how to make settings suitable for materials you want to scan.

For film

Follow the steps below to make settings suitable for scanning film in Professional Mode.

Place your film on the document table.
Using the Film Holder

Start EPSON Scan, then select Professional Mode. For details on how to select the scanning mode, see Changing the Scanning Mode.

The following window appears.

Select the settings that match the film you're scanning.

Document Type

Film Type

Select a film type from the Film Type list.

Select Destination settings to match the resulting image file you desire.

Image Type

Select a suitable image type from the Image Type list.

Resolution

Select a suitable resolution from the Resolution list.

When you specify a high resolution, the number of pixels increases and the scanned image becomes fine in texture. However, increasing the resolution causes the file size to increase. Select a resolution that is suitable for your scan.

The following table lists suitable resolutions for common scanning tasks.

Click Preview to preview the images.

Specify the output size of the scanned image as Target Size and make adjustments using the image quality adjustment tools, if necessary.

Click Scan. EPSON Scan starts scanning.

The scanned images are sent to the application or saved to the specified folder.

For documents and photos

Follow the steps below to select settings suitable for scanning documents and photos (reflective documents) in Professional Mode.

Place your photo or document on the document table.

Start EPSON Scan, then select Professional Mode. For details on how to select the scanning mode, see Changing the Scanning Mode.

The following window appears.

Select the settings that match the document or photo you're scanning.

Document Type

Reflective

Document Source

Document Table

Auto Exposure Type

Select "Photo" or "Document" from the Auto Exposure Type list.

Select Destination settings to match the resulting image file you desire.

Image Type

Select a suitable image type from the Image Type list.

Resolution

Select a suitable resolution from the Resolution list.
