Select Scanning Settings

For photos
For film or slides

For photos

Follow the steps below to select scanning settings for photos (reflective documents) in Professional Mode.

Place your photos on the document table. If necessary, see the following section for more information.
Placing Documents and Photos

Start EPSON Scan and select Professional Mode. For details, see Changing the scanning mode.

The setting window appears. Specify the settings fo your document as listed in the table below.

Image Type

Select a suitable image type.

Resolution

Select an appropriate resolution. See Select a suitable resolution.

Click Preview to preview the images.

Use Target Size to specify the output size of the scanned image. Specify any Adjustments settings as necessary. See Create Beautiful Reproductions for details.

Click Scan to start scanning.
The scanned image is saved to the specified folder.

Select a suitable resolution

When you specify a high resolution, the number of pixels of data increases and the scanned image becomes fine in texture. However, increasing the resolution causes the file size to increase. Specify a suitable resolution according to the scanning purpose.

The following table indicates the suitable resolution to use according to the scanning purpose.

For film or slides

Follow the steps below to select scanning settings for film or slides in Professional Mode.

Place your film or slides on the document table or load it into the auto film loader. If necessary, see the following section for more information.
Placing Film and Slides

Start EPSON Scan and select Professional Mode. For details, see Changing the scanning mode.

The setting window appears. Specify the settings for your film or slides as listed in the table below.

Specify the Original settings for your film or slides.

Film Type

Select a film type from the Film Type list.

Specify the Destination settings for your image file.

Image Type

Select a suitable image type.

Resolution

Select a resolution. See Select a suitable resolution for details.

Note:
When you specify a high resolution, the number of pixels of data increases and the scanned image becomes fine in texture. However, increasing the resolution causes the file size to increase. Specify a suitable resolution according to the scanning purpose.

Click Preview to preview the images.

Click Scan to start scanning.
The scanned image is saved to the specified folder.

For Perfection 2580 Photo users:

When you finish scanning, eject the film from the Auto Film Loader.

Press the  Eject button.

Remove the film after the  Start light turns on.

Note:
  • Do not turn off the scanner before ejecting film. If you do so accidentally, turn on the scanner again and press the  Eject button.
  • Do not pull out the film. Wait until it is ejected automatically.

Flip the metal film guide back in and close the auto film loader cover.

Note:
If the  Start light is flashing red, film may have jammed. See Film jams for details.
