Starting EPSON Scan Tool Light

The CX1500 is controlled from your computer using a TWAIN-compliant driver called EPSON Scan Tool Light.
EPSON Scan Tool Light controls scanning on the CX1500. With this software you can scan images in color, grayscale, or black and white and obtain professional quality results. This program is the standard cross-platform interface between the CX1500 and most applications. You can access it from any application that supports the TWAIN standard, such as Adobe Photoshop.
TWAIN is a standard for the application program interface (API) between image input devices (such as scanners) and applications which control the image input devices.
Using a TWAIN-compliant application and a TWAIN-compliant scanner with a TWAIN-compliant driver enables users to operate any scanner in the same manner.
The CX1500 is a TWAIN-compliant device. You can scan images using common TWAIN-compliant applications like Adobe Photoshop.
When you select a scan command from a TWAIN-compliant application, EPSON Scan Tool Light starts and scans the image with the specified settings.

While the TWAIN-compliant application may appear to be controlling the scan, it is EPSON Scan Tool Light which is actually doing the job.
You can use the EPSON Scan Tool Light screen to specify various settings for scanning.
You can start EPSON Scan Tool Light in two ways. How you choose to start EPSON Scan Tool Light will depend on your creative needs.
If you just want to save scanned images without editing them, start EPSON Scan Tool Light directly. Scanned images will be automatically saved as files in the specified folder. For more details, see Scan & Save.
Double-click the EPSON Scan Tool Light icon on your desktop. EPSON Scan Tool Light opens in Home mode.
When you start EPSON Scan Tool Light from a TWAIN-compliant application, you can scan images directly into the application. For example, to start EPSON Scan Tool Light from Adobe Photoshop 7.0, click File > Import > EPSON Scan Tool Light.
