Scanner Operation Problems
The fluorescent lamp does not turn on
The scanner does not scan
You cannot scan from the integrated TPU
Pressing the Start button does not start scanning
The printed image is larger or smaller than the original
Scanned images cannot be printed or come out garbled
Problems you may have while using the scanner maybe due to the operation of your software and computer. Check for these conditions first if the scanner does not seem to be working:

The cables are connected securely
-
Your computer and its software are working correctly.

Your scanner software is installed correctly
See your Start Here Sheet to confirm that you have set up your scanner in the correct way. Also, see the documentation that came with your computer and software for possible solutions.
The fluorescent lamp does not turn on
Try these solutions:
-
Press the
Power button to turn on the scanner.

Make sure the power cord plugged into an electrical outlet.
-
If the scanner does not receive any commands from the computer after 15 minutes, it turns off the lamp. The lamp will turn back on when you scan.
If you cannot solve a problem, contact your dealer or a qualified customer support person for assistance.

The scanner does not scan
Try these solutions:
-
Wait until the indicator light is a steady green (ready for scanning).

Make sure your interface port and software settings are correct. Also make sure that your computer's interface board is installed properly.

For USB:
Try to connect the scanner directly to the computer's USB port, using the cable that came with this scanner.

For Mac OS 8.6 to 9.x with FireWire:
Make sure the following Extensions are enabled in the Extensions Manager:
EPSON FW Scanner Enabler
EPSON FW Scanner Expert
EPSON FW ScannerLib

You cannot scan from the integrated TPU
Try one or more of these solutions:
-
Make sure the integrated TPU is installed correctly (the TPU light stays on in blue).

Make sure the Document Type setting is appropriate for your film type.

Make sure the reflective document mat has been removed.

Make sure the film is positioned correctly in the film holder, and that the film holder is placed on the document table as described in this section:

Pressing the Start button does not start scanning
Try one or more of these solutions:
-
Make sure EPSON Smart Panel is installed.

In Windows XP:
Click the Events tab in your scanner's Properties dialog box and make sure Take no action is unchecked. Also, make sure the Start button appears in the Select an event list box, and Start this program is checked.

For Windows Me, 98, and 2000 users:
Click the Events tab in your scanner's Properties dialog box and make sure the Disable device events check box is unchecked. Also, make sure the Start button is selected in the Scanner events list box, and the desired application in the Send to this application list is checked.

The printed image is larger or smaller than the original
The image size and resolution settings of your software determine the size of the printed image. Do not use the size of the monitor image to judge the printed size.

Scanned images cannot be printed or come out garbled
Try one or more of these solutions:

Make sure your printer is properly connected to the computer and is working correctly. See your printer manual for details.
